Part-Time Independent Contractor (1099)
Position is designed to not exceed 700 hours per year.

General Description:
The City of Colfax, North Dakota, is seeking a part-time independent contractor to perform
miscellaneous maintenance and general labor duties in support of city operations. Work
will be assigned on an as-needed basis and may vary by season.

This position is intended to supplement town operations and does not constitute regular
employment with the City of Colfax.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Mowing, trimming, and general grounds maintenance of city-owned property
- General labor activities including cleanup, lifting, hauling, and minor manual tasks
- Locating, identifying, and assisting with documentation of water shutoffs and related
infrastructure
- Assisting with seasonal and occasional maintenance tasks as directed
- Performing clean water testing and waste water testing according to state requirements,
training will be provided
- Performing work in coordination with the mayor or other designated town official

Work Schedule:
- Part-time, variable hours
- Work schedule determined based on city needs and seasonal conditions
- Contractor coordinates work times with the city or its designated representative

Equipment:
- Contractor may be expected to utilize personal tools appropriate to assigned tasks
- Use of city-owned equipment may be permitted when approved by the City Official

Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to perform physical labor outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to work independently and follow verbal or written instructions
- General familiarity with basic maintenance or utility-related tasks, or willingness to learn
- Valid driver’s license preferred

Contractor Status:
This position is classified as an independent contractor. The contractor is not considered an
employee of the City of Colfax and is not entitled to employee benefits.
